"I'm too old and broken to start over—my best years were wasted in a failed marriage."
How it sounds in your head: I'm in my seventies. Most of my adult life was in that marriage. Now I'm starting from scratch when I should be enjoying retirement. My health is failing, my energy is gone, and I squandered my productive years. It's too late for breakthrough.
"And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him."
-- Genesis 21:1-2Age-based hopelessness combined with sunk-cost fallacy that past years determine future possibilities under God.
The calendar doesn't lie—he IS in his seventies. Friends are dying. Energy is limited. The divorce feels like it ate his best decades, and now there's not enough runway left for God to do anything significant.
Eighty-five years old, forty years wandering in wilderness because of other people's unbelief—should have been bitter about wasted decades. Instead he said 'Give me THIS MOUNTAIN—I'm as strong now as I was at forty-five.' He took the mountain THAT YEAR and lived in victory.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too old for breakthrough and my best years are behind me. IT IS WRITTEN that Sarah conceived IN OLD AGE—at ninety!—and God's promise came at the set time. Caleb took his mountain at EIGHTY-FIVE after forty wasted years. IT IS WRITTEN that God is not limited by my age or my past. The BARAK blessing doesn't expire at seventy—I am blessed coming in and going out, NOW, at this age. My latter years will be GREATER than my former. Breakthrough is not too late—it's RIGHT ON TIME.
The Father doesn't look at your age and say 'Too late—you missed your window.' He looks at you like He looked at Abraham and Sarah in their nineties and says 'NOW is the set time. Watch what I do in your old age.' Your age is not a barrier—it's the SETUP for showing His glory.
