"I'm too needy. I scare people away with how much I care."
How it sounds in your head: You text too much, you feel too deeply, you want too much connection. You've seen people pull back when you show how much you care. Your emotions are too big for people to handle.
"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."
-- John 15:15Religious lie that your design for deep connection is a FLAW instead of the image of a relational God in you.
You've been called clingy, seen people create distance when you express need, felt embarrassed for caring more than they do. The world calls emotional depth 'too much.'
Mary poured out expensive perfume on Jesus' feet and wiped them with her hair in front of everyone—extravagant, emotional, 'too much.' Judas complained about the waste. Jesus defended her INSTANTLY and said her story would be told forever as something BEAUTIFUL.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too needy or too much. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus calls me FRIEND and shares everything with me because deep connection is HIS design. My capacity to care deeply is not a flaw, it's a FEATURE of being made in God's image. IT IS WRITTEN in Song of Solomon 2:4 that His banner over me is LOVE. The BARAK blessing attracts people who WANT my depth, not run from it. I am not too much; I am exactly enough for the people God is bringing me. My heart is a GIFT.
Your Father isn't rolling His eyes at your emotions. He's running toward you with friends who will WANT your 2am texts, who will CRAVE your depth, before you've toned yourself down even a little.
