"I'm too much of a financial burden on my family now."
How it sounds in your head: Your kids shouldn't have to pay for your care. You're draining their resources, ruining their retirement, making them choose between you and their own families. You're a weight around their necks.
"For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children."

He sees the exhaustion on their faces, hears about the costs, knows caregiving is expensive. His generation prized independence, and this total dependence feels like failure and shame.
Jacob arrived in Egypt at 130 years old, owning nothing, totally dependent on Joseph for food and housing. Joseph didn't see him as a burden—he gave him the BEST of the land, presented him to Pharaoh, and Jacob BLESSED Pharaoh. Even dependent, he carried blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden to my family. IT IS WRITTEN that parents lay up for children AND that children honor parents—this is the generational flow of blessing. I am not a drain; I am a carrier of the Abrahamic blessing, and as they honor me, they position themselves under that covenant. IT IS WRITTEN in Exodus 20:12 that honoring father and mother brings long life—their care for me is BLESSED, not cursed. I declare the grace of God multiplies their resources as they steward me. The oil multiplies in the pouring. Joseph didn't begrudge caring for Jacob; he gave him the BEST.
The Father is whispering: 'You are not a burden—you are BELOVED. And those caring for you are walking in covenant honor that positions them for My supply.' He sees their sacrifice and is already preparing reward they cannot imagine.
