"I'm too much and not enough at the same time. I'll never get the balance right."
How it sounds in your head: When you're fully yourself, you're too intense, too emotional, too needy, too much. When you pull back to compensate, you're distant, unavailable, not engaged enough. There's no middle ground where you're acceptable. You exhaust people either way.
"You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you."
-- Song of Solomon 4:7Enemy double-bind designed to keep you in constant striving and self-rejection.
You've gotten both criticisms—'you're overwhelming' and 'you're so closed off'—sometimes from the same person. No matter what you do, it's wrong. The goalpost moves and you can never land on acceptable.
She broke expensive perfume over Jesus' feet, let down her hair in public, and was immediately criticized as wasteful and inappropriate—too much, wrong setting, poor timing. Jesus defended her, immortalized her act, and said she did a beautiful thing—her 'too much' was exactly right.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too much and not enough. IT IS WRITTEN in Song of Solomon 4:7 that I am ALL FAIR and there is NO SPOT in me—not after I find balance, but right now in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:10 that I am COMPLETE in Him—not deficient, not excessive, COMPLETE. The BARAK blessing doesn't require me to shrink or perform; Abraham was blessed as he was, flaws included. God isn't waiting for me to get the balance right; He delights in me exactly as I am. My intensity is anointing, my depth is design, my emotions are gifts. I walk in the freedom of being fully myself, fully accepted, fully loved. The right people will celebrate what the wrong people criticized.
Your Father isn't critiquing your volume or your distance—He's celebrating your design and positioning you with people who need exactly your flavor of expression. Like Mary's 'too much' was Jesus' treasure, your fullness is someone's breakthrough.
