"I'm too independent now; no one could live with me"
How it sounds in your head: I've lived alone so long I'm set in my ways. I'm too opinionated, too particular, too successful to submit. Men find me intimidating. I've built a life that works without partnership, which probably means I've hardened into someone unloveable. My strength became my disqualification.
"Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come."
-- Proverbs 31:25World teaches women must dim themselves to be desired, and religious teaching implies female strength threatens God's order for marriage.
You've heard 'men don't like intimidating women' enough times to believe it. Your competence in every area makes you wonder if you're 'too much.' The years of handling everything alone have made you question if you even know how to share space or decisions anymore.
Deborah was simultaneously a wife to Lappidoth AND a prophet, judge, and military commander over all Israel—the most powerful person in the nation. Her strength and leadership didn't threaten her marriage; Scripture never even hints at conflict. She led armies while being married, proving strength and partnership aren't opposites.
I REFUSE the lie that my strength makes me unloveable or too difficult for partnership. IT IS WRITTEN that strength and honor are my CLOTHING—not my curse but my God-given design. I am not 'too much' or 'too independent'; I am exactly who the Father created me to be. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:14 that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The Proverbs 31 woman ran businesses, spoke with wisdom, and her husband praised her. Deborah led nations while married. I walk in the BARAK blessing—blessed in my strength, blessed in my competence, blessed in my voice. If God has partnership for me, it will be with someone who celebrates my strength, not someone I must shrink to accommodate. I am not hardened; I am REFINED. I am not intimidating; I am anointed.
The Father isn't waiting for you to become smaller, quieter, or needier to 'qualify' for love. He formed your strength intentionally and celebrates every capability you've developed. Like the Prodigal's father running toward his son's pig-pen smell, He runs toward your full personality—opinions, competence, independence and all—and calls it BEAUTIFUL, not broken.
