"I'm too emotional and need to calm down to be acceptable to others"
How it sounds in your head: Every time I cry or get passionate, people look uncomfortable. My roommates say I'm 'a lot.' My ex said I was exhausting. Maybe if I could just be more chill, people would actually want me around.
"You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?"
-- Psalm 56:8World's voice teaching women that their emotions are burdensome rather than the image of a God who weeps, rejoices, and feels deeply
She's been told to 'calm down' her whole life and watched boys get praised for the same passion she got corrected for. Every relationship seems to end with someone saying she's 'too intense.'
Mary broke an alabaster jar worth a year's wages and poured it on Jesus' feet, then wiped them with her hair while everyone criticized her for being 'too much.' Jesus defended her immediately, said her act would be remembered forever, and called it beautiful.
I REFUSE the lie that my emotions are a burden. IT IS WRITTEN that God collects my tears in a bottle and writes them in His book. I am made in the image of a God who FEELS deeply, who weeps, who rejoices, who is moved with compassion. My emotional capacity is not a flaw to fix but a feature of His design. IT IS WRITTEN that He sings over me with joy, not irritation. The Father RAN to the prodigal with overwhelming emotion. I am not too much. I am exactly the daughter He created, and my depth reflects HIS heart.
The Father sees your tears before they fall and calls them precious, not problematic. He's running toward you with the same overwhelming emotion you've been told to suppress, celebrating that you feel deeply because it means you love deeply like Him.
