"I'm too dependent now to be worth anything to God or anyone"
How it sounds in your head: I need help with everything - bathing, eating, even using the bathroom. I'm a burden. I can't serve, can't contribute, can't DO anything. What possible use am I to God like this?
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10Cultural worship of productivity + religious teaching that spiritual worth equals visible service and independence.
Complete physical dependence strips away every identity marker she built - capable woman, servant, helper. If worth equals doing, then inability to do equals worthlessness.
Crippled in both feet from age five, completely dependent, unable to serve or contribute anything of value in that culture. King David brought him to the palace and said, 'You shall eat at MY table ALWAYS like one of the king's sons' - not for what he could do, but for WHO he was.
I REFUSE the lie that my dependence makes me worthless! IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in weakness - this total dependence is where His power rests on me MOST. I am not a burden; I am a BRANCH abiding in the Vine, and my only job is CONNECTION not production. IT IS WRITTEN that I eat at the King's table like His daughter, not because of what I can do but because of WHO I am in Christ. The BARAK blessing doesn't require my ability - it requires only His covenant. I am precious, honored, and loved in my weakness!
The Father isn't measuring your productivity - He's delighting in your dependence because that's when His strength shines brightest. Like Mephibosheth at the king's table, you're there as FAMILY, not as servant.
