"I'm supposed to be leading others, but I'm drowning myself—I'm a hypocrite."
How it sounds in your head: You preach about faith while doubting. You counsel about anxiety while having panic attacks in your car. You teach about God's presence while feeling abandoned. Everyone thinks you have it together. If they knew the real you—the porn struggle, the anger at God, the jealousy of other pastors' success—they'd lose respect. You're a fake.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10Religious expectation that leaders must be perfect, combined with enemy accusation that struggles equal disqualification.
There's a real gap between what you preach and what you feel. The pressure to have it all together is crushing. You see other leaders who seem fine, which makes your struggle feel like unique failure.
Angel called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he was HIDING in a winepress, terrified, from an enemy. Gideon argued: 'If God is with us, why is this happening? My clan is weakest, I am the least.' God's response: 'GO in THIS MIGHT'—the might of weakness and doubt. Gideon led Israel to victory while still questioning, still weak, still afraid. God used him AS IS.
I REFUSE the lie that my struggles disqualify me from leading. IT IS WRITTEN: His strength is made perfect in WEAKNESS—my battles are the stage for His power. I am not a hypocrite; I am a vessel in process, and IT IS WRITTEN: He who began a good work in me will complete it. I stand in the BARAK blessing—the same grace that covered Judah's adultery and Jacob's deception covers my failures. God doesn't call the qualified; He qualifies the called. My weakness is not my disqualification—it's my CREDENTIAL that the power is His, not mine.
The Father is whispering: 'I didn't call you because you were strong—I called you because I AM. Every struggle you think disqualifies you is actually proof that the power was never yours to lose. Come as you are. I'm not waiting for you to get it together. I'm using you IN the mess.'
