How it sounds in your head: Maybe I'm being selfish asking for this. Maybe it's not spiritual enough or kingdom-focused enough. I should probably just pray for God's will to be done and stop asking for specific things. If it's really His will, it'll happen without me asking anyway.

She's been taught to distrust her own desires as probably selfish and has heard that God only answers 'right' prayers. She's afraid of wanting the wrong things.
God said 'ask what you want.' Solomon asked for wisdom. God gave him wisdom PLUS what he didn't ask for—riches, honor, long life—because God loves to EXCEED what we request, not analyze whether we deserve it.
I REFUSE the lie that my desires are suspect or selfish. IT IS WRITTEN that when I delight in the Lord, He gives me the DESIRES of my heart—not just the 'right' ones, but the actual longings He placed there. My desires are not my enemy; they're breadcrumbs to my destiny. IT IS WRITTEN that God is able to do EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think, which means He's not stingy with answers—He's LAVISH. I am a BRANCH connected to the VINE, and my desires flow from that connection. I ask BOLDLY and receive NOW.
Your Father isn't sitting in heaven analyzing whether your prayer request is spiritual enough—He's the one who GAVE you those desires in the first place, and He's more excited to fulfill them than you are to receive them. He's not a reluctant giver waiting for you to ask for the 'right' things; He's a GENEROUS Father who loves surprising you with YES.
