"I'm not Sarah—I'm 'the girl with POTS.' That's who I am now."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone knows me as the sick girl. I introduce myself by my diagnosis. When people ask about me, my illness is the first thing mentioned. My Instagram bio has my condition listed. I've become my disease.
"The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD will name."
-- Isaiah 62:2Enemy's identity theft—stealing her true name (daughter, beloved, whole) and replacing it with a medical label to erase destiny.
Her entire life now revolves around symptoms, appointments, medications. Every conversation includes her diagnosis. Social media support groups reinforce the sick identity daily.
She was known for 12 years as 'the bleeding woman'—her entire identity was her condition. One touch of Jesus and immediately she was 'Daughter' (v.34)—identity INSTANTLY shifted from disease to family.
I REFUSE the lie that my diagnosis defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am called by a NEW name—the name the Father speaks, not the name on my medical chart. I am NOT 'the sick girl.' I am DAUGHTER. BELOVED. WHOLE. COMPLETE. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 3:3 that my life is hidden with Christ in God—not hidden in a diagnosis, not buried in symptoms. The BARAK blessing that protected Abraham even when he lied declares I am blessed coming in and going out, in the city and in the field—not cursed with chronic illness. I am the healed, the free, the NAMED by Heaven.
The Father sees you running toward Him smelling like hospital disinfectant and medication, and He's SPRINTING with the robe that says HEALED, the ring that says AUTHORITY OVER SICKNESS, the sandals that say DAUGHTER NOT PATIENT. He's been preparing the party for your breakthrough while you've been in the sick room.
