"I'm not a leader. I don't have what it takes to lead a family."
How it sounds in your head: Leadership feels heavy and you don't feel equipped. You see other men who seem naturally authoritative, decisive, confident. You second-guess decisions. How can you lead a wife and kids when you're still figuring yourself out?
"When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, 'The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.'"
-- Judges 6:12Enemy accusation—comparing your interior uncertainty to others' exterior confidence.
Culture and church both say husband equals leader, and you don't feel like one. You've seen your weaknesses up close. Leadership seems to require a confidence you don't have. You're winging it in your own life, let alone someone else's.
Gideon was hiding, fearful, from the weakest clan, the least in his family. God called him 'mighty warrior' and sent him to save Israel. Gideon protested his inadequacy. God said, 'I will be with you.' That was enough—he led Israel to victory.
I REFUSE the lie that I lack what it takes to lead. IT IS WRITTEN that God called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he hid in fear—God calls me what I'm BECOMING, not what I feel like now. Leadership is not my adequacy but His presence. IT IS WRITTEN that Moses protested, 'I'm not eloquent,' but God said, 'I will be with your mouth.' I am Abraham's seed under the BARAK blessing where Jacob led a family while still flawed. I don't lead from perfected strength but from abiding connection. I declare I am a branch in the Vine—leadership flows FROM Him, not from me. The right woman is looking for a man connected to God, not a man with all the answers.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to feel like a leader. He called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he trembled. He's calling you into leadership by His presence, not your perfection. The woman He's preparing is looking for a man who abides, not a man who has it all figured out.
