"I'm just a sick girl now. My illness is who I am and who I'll always be."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone knows me as the girl with the condition. Teachers whisper about it. Friends treat me different. Even when I look in the mirror, all I see is my diagnosis. Maybe this IS my identity now.
"The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD will name."
-- Isaiah 62:2Enemy assignment to steal identity through medical labels and worldly agreement with diagnosis as permanent.
Doctors use her name and disease in same sentence constantly. School forms list her condition. Her daily routine revolves around managing symptoms, making the illness feel more real than anything else about her.
She was known only as 'the woman with the issue' for 12 years—her disease WAS her identity to everyone. One touch of Jesus and IMMEDIATELY her identity shifted from diseased to daughter—Jesus called her 'DAUGHTER' the moment she was healed.
I REFUSE the lie that my illness defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall be called by a NEW NAME from the mouth of the Lord—and His name for me is DAUGHTER, BELOVED, WHOLE. My identity is not a diagnosis but CHRIST IN ME, the hope of glory. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION and old things have passed away. The Abraham blessing flows through my bloodline through Jesus—the blessing that protected liars and deceivers protects ME, and sickness has NO legal right to define who I am. I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Christ Jesus.
The Father is running toward you with the ROBE of identity—not the medical gown, but the FAMILY ROBE that says 'MINE.' He sees you as WHOLE right now, not sick, and He's throwing a party over the daughter He always knew you were, not the patient the world labeled you.
