"I'm just a burden to my family now; they'd be better off without me."
How it sounds in your head: I see the exhaustion in their eyes. I hear the sighs when they have to help me again. I'm draining their resources, their time, their energy. I'm costing them their lives.
"And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:15Enemy's accusation spirit; world's utilitarian value system; shame from dependence in a self-sufficient culture.
Complete physical dependence is visible and measurable. Caregivers ARE exhausted, costs ARE high, and the contrast between once-provider and now-dependent feels unbearable.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet, completely dependent, expecting death. David brought him to the king's table PERMANENTLY—not as charity, but as COVENANT. He ate at the king's table 'like one of the king's sons,' disability and all.
I REFUSE the lie that I am a burden. IT IS WRITTEN: 'I will GLADLY spend and be spent for your souls'—burden is the LANGUAGE of covenant love. IT IS WRITTEN: There is NO condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, and shame is NOT from my Father. I am Mephibosheth at the King's table—COVENANT, not charity. The BARAK blessing doesn't measure worth by productivity. I am a BRANCH in the Vine, and my value is POSITIONAL, not functional. I decree: my dependence is DISCIPLESHIP for those who serve me.
The Father isn't calculating your cost—He's celebrating your PRESENCE. Like Mephibosheth crippled at the king's table, you belong there not by merit but by COVENANT, and the King calls you 'son.'
