"I'm invisible now. People look through me, not at me. I don't matter anymore."

How it sounds in your head: Conversations happen around me, not with me. People talk to my daughter about me like I'm not in the room. Decisions are made for me without asking. I used to turn heads, command attention, be somebody. Now I'm just 'the patient in 3B.' I've become invisible. Background. Irrelevant.

Genesis 16:13

"Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, 'Have I also here seen Him who sees me?'"

-- Genesis 16:13
Enemy whispers: You're invisible, irrelevant, unseen. People look through you. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Genesis 16:13 - God is 'El Roi'—the God Who SEES. Hagar was an abused, pregnant slave running for her life in the wilderness, and God SAW her, spoke her name, gave her a promise. You are not invisible. You are SEEN by the God who counts every hair, who bottles every tear, who knows your name. When Hagar realized God SAW her, she was undone. You are not background. You are FOREGROUND in the Father's gaze. His eyes never leave you.
Quick Truth: LIE: I'm invisible. TRUTH: God is 'El Roi'—the God Who SEES (Gen 16:13)—His eyes never leave you.

World's lie that value comes from beauty, productivity, or social status, hiding the truth that she is SEEN by the God who sees (El Roi).

Why this feels true:

Medical staff address family members instead of her. She is physically less visible—smaller, quieter, in a bed instead of standing. Society's attention gravitates toward youth and vitality. She feels like a faded photograph of who she used to be.

Genesis 16:7-13
Hagar

Hagar was an Egyptian slave, abused by her mistress, invisible to society, running away pregnant and alone in the desert. The Angel of the Lord appeared to HER, spoke to HER, called her by name, and she named Him 'The God Who Sees Me.' She was seen when everyone else looked away.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I am invisible or irrelevant. IT IS WRITTEN that God is El Roi—the God Who SEES me. When the world looked away from Hagar, He saw her, named her, gave her a future. When society dismisses the elderly, He leans in closer. I am not a room number or a faded photograph. I am SEEN, KNOWN, and TREASURED. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the apple of His eye, that He has engraved me on the palms of His hands. The BARAK blessing doesn't fade with age or beauty. I am blessed, highly favored, and fully VISIBLE to the One whose opinion is the only one that matters. I am not background. I am BELOVED.

But God actually:

The Father's gaze has never left you—not for one second of 90+ years. When the world looks away, He leans CLOSER. You are not fading from His view—you're coming into sharper focus as you approach the moment you'll see Him face to face. He is OBSESSED with you.
