"I'm disqualified because I walked away from God for a season"
How it sounds in your head: You knew better. You were raised in church, gave your testimony, led worship—then you walked away. You partied, slept around, mocked Christians. You can't just come BACK after that. God's done with you.
"Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: 'Return, backsliding Israel,' says the LORD; 'I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful,' says the LORD; 'I will not remain angry forever.'"
-- Jeremiah 3:12Source: Religious scorekeeping that limits God's grace to one-time backsliders and measures His patience in strikes.
You remember the exact moment you chose the world, and you feel like you betrayed God personally. People who watched you lead worship now see your Instagram—you're a walking cautionary tale. Surely there's a limit to grace.
Peter denied Jesus three times—AFTER walking with Him for three years, seeing miracles, declaring 'You are the Christ.' After the resurrection, Jesus didn't bench him or put him on probation—He RESTORED him by the fire and said, 'Feed My sheep.' Peter became the leader of the early church.
I REFUSE the lie that walking away disqualified me from God's purposes. IT IS WRITTEN: 'Return, backsliding Israel—I will not remain angry forever, for I am MERCIFUL.' IT IS WRITTEN that Peter denied Jesus three times with cursing, and Jesus RESTORED him and made him the rock of the church. There is no sin bigger than the blood of Jesus. My season of rebellion doesn't change my identity—I am STILL a daughter, STILL chosen, STILL called. The Father didn't wait for me to clean up—He RAN to me while I still smelled like the world, and He's throwing a PARTY over my return right now.
The Father isn't making you sit in the 'penalty box' to prove you're serious this time—He's putting the ring, robe, and sandals on you RIGHT NOW and killing the fattened calf. He's been watching the road for you, and the MOMENT you turned toward home, He started running.
