"I'm better off alone where no one can hurt me like this again"
How it sounds in your head: People are the problem. If I just keep to myself, I'm in control. Loneliness is uncomfortable but it's predictable. Betrayal is unbearable. Alone is safer than taking the risk of caring again.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up."
-- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10Enemy selling isolation as safety, trading God-designed connection for controlled but barren independence
Loneliness IS less immediately painful than betrayal trauma, so isolation genuinely feels like the logical protective choice. Independence feels powerful compared to the vulnerability of needing people.
After Jezebel's betrayal and threats, Elijah ran to the wilderness saying 'I alone am left' and wanted to die in isolation. God sent an angel with food, then spoke to him, then told him 'I have reserved 7,000 who have not bowed to Baal'—you're NOT alone, and isolation is a LIE.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm better off alone! IT IS WRITTEN that two are better than one, and woe to the one who falls alone—God DESIGNED me for connection, not isolation. Before sin even existed, God said 'It is NOT GOOD to be alone,' so isolation isn't His will for me. I am a daughter under the Abrahamic blessing, and that blessing includes COMMUNITY, FRIENDSHIP, and FAMILY. IT IS WRITTEN that He sets the solitary in families—He's not leaving me alone, He's building CONNECTION around me. I am brave enough to risk relationship again because the Father is filtering who gets access to me. Isolation is a prison pretending to be protection. I am COMING OUT and CONNECTING AGAIN.
The Father sees you hiding in isolation and He's not dragging you out by force—He's sitting with you in the cave like He did with Elijah, feeding you, speaking gently, and then showing you the THOUSANDS of safe people He's already prepared. He's not asking you to trust everyone; He's asking you to trust HIM to bring the right ones.
