"I'm a burden to my family now that I'm not providing."
How it sounds in your head: I see the worry in my wife's eyes when bills come. My adult kids offering help - the role reversal is humiliating. I should be the one providing, blessing, giving. Instead I'm the problem they're trying to solve. I'm supposed to be the rock, and I'm crumbling.
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
-- Galatians 6:9Religious performance identity making provider role equal to worth, attacking masculine identity with shame.
His income dropped or stopped, and family members are offering help or showing concern. The cultural script says men his age should be established, and needing help feels like failure of his core identity.
Job lost EVERYTHING - wealth, children, health, reputation. He sat in ashes scraping sores while friends accused him. Then God turned his captivity around, and Job ended with TWICE what he had before. The restoration was complete and the ending was greater than the beginning.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden because circumstances changed. IT IS WRITTEN that in due season I will reap if I don't lose heart. My identity isn't provider - my identity is SON, and sons are blessed regardless of their bank account. The BARAK blessing made Abraham leave Egypt richer after lying to Pharaoh. IT IS WRITTEN that God takes pleasure in prospering His servants (Psalm 35:27). I am not a problem to solve - I am a son being positioned for restoration. I declare that this season is temporary and breakthrough is coming.
The Father doesn't measure your value by your paycheck - He measured your value by Jesus' blood. While you're calling yourself a burden, He's calling you His beloved son. The prodigal was BROKE and SMELLING LIKE PIGS when the Father ran to him. Your bank account doesn't change His affection.
