"I'll see my abusive parents in heaven and have to pretend everything is fine for eternity."
How it sounds in your head: If they're in heaven, I'll have to face them. What if God expects me to act like nothing happened? An eternity of fake smiles and buried rage sounds like hell, not heaven. I'm about to find out and I'm terrified of that reunion.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
-- Revelation 21:4Enemy distorting heaven's reality by projecting earth's dysfunction into eternity, making eternal joy sound like eternal performance.
Religious teaching presents heaven as a big family reunion with no conflict, and your only category for 'no conflict' with your parents is denial and performance, which you've done for decades and it's exhausting.
Stoned to death by religious leaders while praying for their forgiveness, saw heaven open and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. He went from brutal murder to the presence of Jesus in one breath—no trauma carried over, no PTSD in glory, instant perfect peace despite horrific death.
I REFUSE the lie that heaven is an eternal performance or that facing my parents there means buried pain. IT IS WRITTEN that God wipes away EVERY tear and the former things pass away. Heaven is not earth with better lighting—it's a place where pain doesn't exist and all things are made new. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Stephen went from stoning to Jesus' presence with zero trauma. The BARAK blessing promises everlasting JOY. I will not carry this wound into eternity because glorified bodies don't hold earth-scars. I receive peace about eternity RIGHT NOW.
The Father who runs toward you now will not seat you at a table in heaven where you're uncomfortable for eternity. He's preparing a place where every tear is wiped, every wrong made right, and you'll experience reconciliation as FREEDOM, not obligation—you won't be pretending because you'll be transformed.
