"I'll never make enough to support a family like my dad did; that generation had opportunities I don't."
How it sounds in your head: My dad bought a house at 25 on a single income. I'm 23 with a degree and can barely afford rent. The American dream is dead for my generation. Even if I work hard, the economy is rigged against me. I'll never be the provider I'm supposed to be.
"The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of hosts."
-- Haggai 2:9Cultural narrative of generational decline and economic determinism that makes provision about timing and opportunity rather than covenant and God's supply.
Housing costs are 3x what they were for previous generations relative to income. Entry-level jobs require 5 years experience. Student debt didn't exist for boomers. The statistics actually back up that economic mobility is harder now.
There was a FAMINE in the land - worst economic conditions possible. Isaac sowed in the famine year anyway and reaped 100-FOLD harvest the same year, becoming so wealthy the king asked him to leave. Famine didn't stop covenant blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that my generation is cursed economically or that opportunity has passed. IT IS WRITTEN that the glory of the latter shall be GREATER than the former - God's pattern is increase, not decline. Economic conditions don't override covenant. Isaac sowed in FAMINE and reaped 100-fold. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, and the BARAK blessing on me doesn't depend on the economy - it creates economy. I am positioned for provision that surpasses previous generations because I am in Christ.
Your Father isn't limited by interest rates, housing costs, or economic trends - He's the God who multiplied bread for thousands and provided 100-fold return in famine. He's running toward you with opportunities the statistics say don't exist, because His supply isn't economy-dependent.
