"I'll never have a real family because mine was so broken."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone else knows what a normal family looks like. I don't even have a template. How am I supposed to build something I've never seen? I'm destined to repeat the brokenness because it's all I know.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Enemy using past damage to create false ceiling on future, blocking revelation of God as Restorer of what was stolen.
You've watched the dysfunction up close. You don't have the 'normal family' reference point your friends do. The fear of repeating the cycle feels like wisdom, not a lie.
Widowed, childless, foreign, destitute—literally had NOTHING and came from a cursed lineage (Moabites were banned from Israel). She married Boaz, had a son named Obed, who became the grandfather of KING DAVID and part of the MESSIANIC line. Total reversal in ONE GENERATION.
I REFUSE the lie that my broken family determines my future family. IT IS WRITTEN that God RESTORES the years the locust has eaten—He doesn't just stop the bleeding; He gives BACK what was stolen. I don't need a perfect template from my past to build a blessed future. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 61:3 that God gives beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. My past is not my prison; it's my TESTIMONY. The BARAK blessing breaks generational curses and establishes generational BLESSINGS through Christ. I am not destined to repeat the cycle—I'm destined to START a new one. God is writing a DIFFERENT story through me, and it starts RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't looking at your fractured family history and thinking, 'Well, that's unfortunate—probably can't do much with that.' He's looking at the EXACT brokenness and whispering, 'Perfect. Watch what I build from these ashes. This is going to be GLORIOUS.' He's the God of the turnaround, and yours has already started.
