"I'll never be able to trust myself again after what I've done."
How it sounds in your head: I lied to everyone I love. I stole, manipulated, destroyed trust. How can I trust my own decisions now? What if I'm fooling myself right now?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
-- Proverbs 3:5-6Shame weapon: keeps you focused on YOUR trustworthiness instead of HIS faithfulness.
Your past choices really did hurt people. You did lie. You did break trust. The wreckage is real, and it feels dangerous to trust yourself again.
Ran from God's call, caused a storm, got thrown overboard, spent three days in a fish's belly. After that spectacular failure, 'the word of the Lord came to Jonah a SECOND TIME' — God trusted him with the SAME mission immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that I can't trust myself again. IT IS WRITTEN I trust in the Lord with all my heart, not in my own understanding. He directs my paths. My confidence isn't in my perfect record — it's in HIS faithfulness to finish what He started. IT IS WRITTEN He who began a good work in me will complete it. I am not white-knuckling my way through decisions; I'm leaning on the One who never fails. The BARAK blessing isn't based on my trustworthiness — it protected LIARS and DECEIVERS and still flowed. How much more does Jesus' blood secure me?
The Father isn't waiting to see if you'll mess up again. He's the Good Shepherd who already knows every dumb turn you'll make and STILL calls you His own, STILL guides you, STILL trusts you with His mission — not because you're qualified, but because He's faithful.
