"I'll have to settle or compromise my standards to find someone."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe your list is too picky. Maybe you need to give the 'nice guy' a chance even though there's no spark. Your married friends keep saying 'nobody checks every box' and maybe you're being unrealistic waiting for butterflies AND Jesus.
"Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Scarcity mindset from the enemy making you think God's best requires you to settle for less.
You're not getting any younger and the options seem limited. Maybe the 'man of God' you're praying for doesn't actually exist and you're going to end up alone if you don't lower your expectations.
Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for Isaac with VERY specific criteria - from his homeland, from his family, God-fearing. The servant prayed a detailed prayer and Rebekah showed up checking EVERY BOX that same day. Isaac didn't settle - he got exactly what was asked for.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to settle or lower my standards. IT IS WRITTEN that as I delight in the Lord, He SHALL give me the desires of my heart - not leftovers, not 'good enough,' but the DESIRES. My Father is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think. IT IS WRITTEN that He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly. I am the seed of Abraham covered by the BARAK blessing, and my Father doesn't give His daughters scraps. He's preparing someone who exceeds my list.
Your Father isn't rolling His eyes at your standards - He's the one who PUT those desires in your heart in the first place. He's running toward you with someone who will make you laugh that you ever thought about settling, someone who checks boxes you didn't even know to pray for.
