"I'll die as 'the diabetic'—it's what everyone will remember about my final years."
How it sounds in your head: Every conversation circles back to blood sugar and insulin. My kids manage my meals like I'm a child. The obituary will probably mention it—decades of life reduced to a medical condition.
"For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
-- Colossians 3:3World system elevates temporal physical conditions above eternal spiritual realities, making diagnosis feel like destiny.
Daily insulin rituals and dietary restrictions make the disease unavoidable in every interaction. A lifetime of being the strong one now reversed to being monitored and managed.
Lazarus was covered in sores, so sick dogs licked his wounds, defined entirely by poverty and disease during life. The INSTANT he died, angels carried him to Abraham's side—his earthly suffering became completely irrelevant, his eternal position everything.
I REFUSE the lie that diabetes will define my legacy. IT IS WRITTEN that my life is hidden with Christ in God—what's visible to doctors and family is NOT the truth of who I am. I am a son of the King, covered by the BARAK covenant that promised 'you shall be above only and not beneath'—that's my TRUE position regardless of my blood sugar. This disease is a temporary condition in a temporary body; my REAL identity is eternal, unshakeable, and already secured by the blood. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not when I miss my insulin, not when my numbers spike, not ever. I will be remembered in HEAVEN as His beloved, and that's the only memorial that matters.
The Father sees you the way He saw Lazarus—not as the diseased beggar the world dismissed, but as the beloved son carried by angels into eternal honor. Your diabetes doesn't diminish your position at the Father's table any more than the prodigal's pig-pen smell made the Father hesitate to embrace him and throw a party.
