"If we had more faith, we would be pregnant by now."
How it sounds in your head: You've read the verses about faith moving mountains and prayed until your voice was hoarse. Other people's faith seems to work but yours doesn't. Maybe your doubt is the problem. Maybe you're not believing hard enough, praying long enough, declaring loud enough. Maybe the pregnancy test is negative because your faith is weak.
"And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God."
-- Romans 4:19-20Religious lie that makes conception the reward for sufficient faith and infertility proof of spiritual failure.
Jesus said if you have faith like a mustard seed you can move mountains - but you can't even move a pregnancy test to positive. The formula seems simple: more faith = answered prayer. No answer must mean not enough faith.
Zechariah doubted the angel's promise that Elizabeth would conceive, was struck mute for his unbelief - yet Elizabeth still got pregnant exactly as God said. His doubt didn't stop God's promise.
I REFUSE the lie that my faith level determines my fertility. IT IS WRITTEN that Abraham was strong in faith yet still waited 25 years for Isaac - faith sustains through delay, it doesn't eliminate delay. Zechariah literally doubted and Elizabeth still conceived. IT IS WRITTEN that faith is the gift of God, not something I work up through effort. My conception is not contingent on my faith performance but on God's covenant faithfulness. IT IS WRITTEN that the blessing of Abraham is mine through Christ - to be fruitful and multiply. I am redeemed from barrenness. God's promises are yes and amen because of HIS nature, not my spiritual performance. My baby is coming because God is faithful, not because I finally believed hard enough.
Your Father isn't withholding children until your faith reaches some threshold - He's the God who gave John the Baptist to Elizabeth even after Zechariah doubted the angel to his face. He doesn't measure your faith with a performance meter. He's the Prodigal's Father who ran toward the son who had zero faith in his own worthiness, gave him everything before he earned anything, celebrated him while he still smelled like pigs. Your baby isn't earned through faith - it's promised through covenant.
