"If the Bible were really true, my life would look different by now"
How it sounds in your head: I've tithed, prayed, served, believed. The Bible promises blessing, healing, provision. I should have seen more fruit. Either I've done it wrong for eight decades or the promises aren't real. At this point, the math doesn't add up.
"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."
-- 2 Corinthians 1:20Source: Prosperity gospel and religious performance teaching that made God's promises conditional on your execution instead of based on His covenant.
A lifetime of trying to 'do it right' with mixed results creates the impression that biblical promises are exaggerated or the problem is personal failure.
Crippled, hiding in obscurity, grandson of David's enemy Saul, expecting death. David restored ALL Saul's land to him, gave him permanent place at the king's table—not for anything he did, but because of covenant with Jonathan.
I REFUSE the lie that God's promises depend on my performance. IT IS WRITTEN that all God's promises are YES in Christ, not in my ability to claim them correctly. IT IS WRITTEN that Mephibosheth received full restoration based on covenant, not merit—he was crippled, hiding, from an enemy's family, yet ate at the king's table for life. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham's lineage even through liars, deceivers, and murderers because covenant isn't based on behavior. I am in Christ; therefore EVERY promise is already yes over my life, activated by His finished work, not my lifetime of trying.
The Father isn't withholding promises waiting for you to perform better—He's been offering them freely while you've been trying to earn what was already yours. Your striving has been the only thing delaying your receiving.
