"I've deconstructed too far. I can't get back to simple faith after seeing church hypocrisy."
How it sounds in your head: I've watched pastors fall, seen churches split over politics, witnessed judgment instead of love for decades. I can't unsee it. Maybe the whole thing was just human manipulation. I'm too cynical now to ever believe simply again.
"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?' which is translated, 'My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?'"
-- Mark 15:34Religious trauma weaponized against faith itself, when Jesus came to destroy religion and restore relationship.
Eighty years of church attendance includes seeing beloved leaders exposed as frauds and watching congregations wound each other. Her mind catalogues decades of evidence that 'faith' was just power games, and she can't unknow what she's seen.
John Mark abandoned Paul's missionary team, causing such conflict that Paul refused to work with him again—ministry trauma and failure. Years later, Paul wrote 'Get Mark...for he is useful to me for ministry.' Total restoration from deconstruction to usefulness.
I REFUSE the lie that seeing church hypocrisy means I've gone too far to return. IT IS WRITTEN that even Jesus felt abandoned by God, crying out in anguish on the cross. My disillusionment is HONEST, not disqualifying. IT IS WRITTEN that John Mark abandoned ministry, failed Paul, and was still restored to usefulness years later. The BARAK blessing covered deceivers like Jacob—it covers my cynicism too. Church may have failed me, but Jesus never did. I'm not too far gone; I'm exactly where honest people land when religion disappoints. God isn't in the building—He's in the relationship. I can trust HIM even when I can't trust the institution.
The Father is running toward your honesty about church wounds, not away from it. He's not asking you to pretend you didn't see what you saw—He's inviting you to know HIM apart from the systems that misrepresented Him.
