"If I'd been a better steward, I wouldn't be dying dependent on my children financially."
How it sounds in your head: I'm a burden. They pay for things I should have saved for. If I'd managed better, invested smarter, been more responsible, I wouldn't be asking them for help now. I failed at stewardship.
"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
-- Matthew 6:26Religion—stewardship teaching that makes dependence feel like sin, turning natural aging needs into evidence of spiritual failure.
Every time they pay for something, shame hits. Culture says adults shouldn't burden children. Her need feels like moral failure.
Apostle Paul, mighty man of God, received financial support from churches repeatedly. He called their giving 'fruit that abounds to your account'—their provision FOR him blessed THEM.
I REFUSE the lie that my dependence proves I failed at stewardship. IT IS WRITTEN that birds neither save nor invest yet the Father feeds them—and I am worth MORE than birds. Dependence is Kingdom design, not failure. IT IS WRITTEN that His grace is sufficient for me. My children's provision for me isn't burden—it's fruit that abounds to their account, part of the BARAK blessing flowing through generations. Paul received support and it BLESSED the givers. I am the BRANCH designed for dependence on the Vine—independence was never the goal. Connection was.
Your Father isn't disappointed in your dependence—He's delighted to provide through your children, making them conduits of His blessing. You're not a burden; you're an opportunity for them to participate in divine provision. He designed you to need. It's beautiful, not broken.
