"If I were thinner, prettier, or younger, I wouldn't be alone. My body disqualifies me now."
How it sounds in your head: You avoid mirrors in certain lights. Menopause added twenty pounds you can't lose like you used to. Your skin doesn't bounce back. The world told you beauty had an expiration date, and you're past it.
"You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you."
-- Song of Solomon 4:7World: equates romantic viability with youth and conventional beauty standards, making aging female bodies objects of shame.
Every commercial shows couples where the woman is ten years younger and filter-perfect. Men your age pursue women in their thirties. Your body genuinely has changed, and the culture genuinely worships youth.
At 90 years old—decades past menopause, body completely 'disqualified'—God gave her the promise of a son. Her age and physical limitations were irrelevant to His covenant. What was impossible for her body was nothing to Him.
I REFUSE the lie that my aging body disqualifies me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am ALL fair and there is NO spot in me. I am not too old. Not too heavy. Not past expiration. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, blessed coming in and going out. The BARAK blessing covers me—Sarah at 90 received the impossible. I am righteous by gift, not by measurements. My body is a temple, not a product.
Father isn't scrutinizing your weight or wrinkles with disappointment. He's running toward you—just as you are, menopause and all—calling you beautiful, fair, without spot, because He sees you clothed in the righteousness of Christ, which has no expiration date.
