"If I were really saved, I wouldn't struggle with the same sins over and over"
How it sounds in your head: I keep messing up in the same ways—gossiping, being jealous, lying to avoid trouble. Real Christians must not struggle like this. Maybe I'm not really saved or God has given up on me.
"For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice."
-- Romans 7:19Religion preaches that salvation produces instant perfection, contradicting Paul's own testimony of struggling with sin in Romans 7.
She hears testimonies of dramatic one-time deliverances and assumes everyone else got instantly fixed while she still battles the same temptations. When she fails again, shame whispers she's not truly born again.
Paul, the greatest missionary and theologian, admitted he kept doing what he hated and failing to do what he wanted. He cried 'who will deliver me?' and answered his own question: Jesus Christ our Lord, not perfect performance.
I REFUSE the lie that repeated struggle means I'm not saved. IT IS WRITTEN that even Paul wrestled with doing what he didn't want to do. My salvation is not based on my behavior but on Jesus' finished work. When I fail, the blood STILL covers me. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for those in Christ, so I will not condemn myself for struggling. I am RIGHTEOUS by GIFT, not by winning every fight. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham even when he LIED, so it protects me when I stumble. I'm a branch connected to the Vine, and He's producing fruit in me, even in the mess.
The Father doesn't keep a scorecard of your wins and losses. He sees you covered in Jesus' righteousness, and He's not shocked or disappointed by your struggle because He already paid for every failure on the cross.
