"If I were more like her, people would like me and I'd finally fit in."
How it sounds in your head: She's funny and everyone laughs. She's confident and people follow her. If I could just be more like her—talk like her, dress like her, act like her—maybe I'd finally belong instead of always feeling on the outside.
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
-- Ephesians 2:10Enemy—convincing you that your authentic self isn't enough and that belonging requires becoming someone else.
She seems to have what you want—friends, acceptance, ease in social situations. Imitating her feels safer than risking rejection as yourself. You've tried being you and felt invisible, so becoming her seems like the solution.
Saul tried to please people instead of obeying God, fearing man's opinion more than God's approval. His imitation and people-pleasing cost him the kingdom. God wanted Saul to be SAUL, not a copy of what the people demanded.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to become someone else to be loved or accepted. IT IS WRITTEN that I am God's WORKMANSHIP—His masterpiece, created on purpose for a purpose. God didn't make a mistake when He made me ME. The assignments He has for my life require MY voice, MY personality, MY unique design—not hers. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, which means being HER would be a downgrade from being ME. The BARAK blessing doesn't make me like everyone else—it makes me blessed as MYSELF. I am the head and not the tail as ME, not as a copy.
Father isn't waiting for you to become her—He's celebrating YOU. He's not disappointed in your design; He's DELIGHTED by it, running toward you with approval for the original, not the imitation.
