"If I show my real emotions, no one will respect or love me."
How it sounds in your head: Men don't cry. Men don't need help. If you show weakness, fear, sadness—if you're anything other than strong and stoic—you'll lose respect. Girls want strong guys, not emotional ones. Suck it up or be alone.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35World's toxic masculinity lie + religious stoicism, whispering that vulnerability equals weakness and weakness equals unlovable.
Every time you've been vulnerable, someone mocked you or told you to 'man up.' The world punishes male emotion, so hiding feels safer than risking rejection.
David, the warrior king who killed Goliath, wrote: 'You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?' David CRIED so much God kept his tears in a bottle. Still called 'a man after God's own heart.'
I REFUSE the lie that showing emotion makes me unlovable. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus wept—the Son of God felt deeply and expressed it fully, and He was no less KING. I am made in the IMAGE of a God who FEELS, and my emotions are not weakness but DESIGN. IT IS WRITTEN that God keeps my tears in a bottle—He treasures my emotion, doesn't mock it. I receive the BARAK blessing: I am blessed coming in and going out, and my vulnerability is STRENGTH, not shame. I am deeply loved, not for stoicism but for authenticity. I am free to FEEL because Jesus felt first.
The Father doesn't love you MORE when you're stone-faced and LESS when you cry—He collects your tears, numbers them, treasures them. Jesus wept publicly and remained fully God. You can feel fully and remain fully loved.
