"If I have enough to retire I won't have anything left to give"
How it sounds in your head: Church always talks about giving and helping others. If I save for myself, doesn't that make me selfish? But if I give everything away, I'll have nothing for later. I feel trapped between being generous and being secure.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Religion: False choice between provision for self and provision for others, denying God's multiplication principle where both increase together
She hears messages about generosity and sees people praised for sacrificial giving. It feels like having savings means being less spiritual, but having nothing means being irresponsible.
These churches were in EXTREME poverty, yet they gave BEYOND their ability with ABUNDANT joy and begged Paul to let them give more. Their poverty didn't stop supernatural generosity—God multiplied both their supply and their giving simultaneously.
I REFUSE the lie that I must choose between provision for myself and provision for giving. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes ALL grace abound so I have ALL sufficiency in ALL things PLUS abundance for good works. My Father doesn't operate in either/or—He operates in OVERFLOW. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed to be a blessing—that means blessed FIRST, then blessing others FROM the overflow. The BARAK on my life doesn't run out when I give; it MULTIPLIES. I will have abundance for retirement AND abundance to give because my God supplies BOTH from His riches.
Your Father isn't asking you to choose between caring for yourself or caring for others. He's running toward you with such abundant supply that BOTH are covered—you'll retire in peace AND give generously because His supply never runs dry.
