"I can't afford to retire and still tithe—I'll have to choose between giving and surviving."
How it sounds in your head: You run the retirement budget numbers and adding 10% to the church means cutting medicine or food. You've tithed your whole working life, but now it feels like a luxury you can't afford. The guilt is crushing, but so is the math.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Religious teaching that tithing is a LAW requirement rather than Old Covenant practice, creating false guilt about New Covenant generosity.
The spreadsheet is brutally clear—fixed income means fixed choices, and 10% of less leaves even less. Choosing between pills and tithes feels like choosing between your body and your soul, and both feel like losing.
She was dirt poor, living on nothing, yet gave her last two coins—everything she had to live on. Jesus didn't rebuke her for being financially irresponsible—He CELEBRATED her and said she gave more than all the rich people, and her story is in Scripture forever.
I REFUSE the lie that I must choose between provision and generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes ALL grace abound toward me so I ALWAYS have ALL sufficiency in ALL things with abundance for EVERY good work. I am not under Law—tithing is not a requirement to access blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that the BARAK blessing is mine by covenant through Christ, not by percentage given. I give from joy and overflow, not fear and obligation. My Provider doesn't run out when I'm generous—He MULTIPLIES seed to the sower. My retirement will be marked by ABUNDANCE, not scarcity, because grace abounds toward me.
The Father isn't waiting for your tithe check to decide if He'll fund your medicine—He's the one who GAVE you the blood that purchased healing AND provision. While you've been calculating percentages, He's been preparing abundance that makes the either-or question irrelevant.
