"If I had prayed more or been holier, they wouldn't have left."
How it sounds in your head: I see women who prayed through the night and their children serve God. I got lazy, inconsistent. I had secret sins. Maybe if I'd been a better witness, read my Bible more, fasted more, they would have stayed. This is the consequence of my spiritual mediocrity.
"not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit."
-- Titus 3:5Religion makes salvation a transaction based on the parent's holiness, creating a works-based theology that denies grace and tortures parents with false guilt.
She can list every spiritual discipline she neglected and compares herself to more 'devoted' mothers whose children stayed faithful. Her secret sins feel like disqualifications.
Lot made terrible decisions, lived in Sodom, offered his daughters to a mob, got drunk and committed incest—yet 2 Peter 2:7 calls him 'righteous Lot.' Despite his catastrophic failures, God sent angels to physically DRAG him out of judgment because of covenant with Abraham.
I REFUSE the lie that my child's salvation depends on my prayer log or holiness scorecard. IT IS WRITTEN that salvation is NOT by works of righteousness which we have done, but by HIS MERCY. God saved Lot the incestuous drunk because of covenant, not character. The BARAK blessing doesn't require my spiritual perfection—Abraham lied, Jacob deceived, Judah slept with his daughter-in-law, and God still kept covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST, not by my own discipline. I am a BRANCH connected to the VINE—fruit comes from abiding, not achieving. My 'secret sins' are drowned in the blood that calls me RIGHTEOUS. The Father is drawing my child based on HIS NATURE, not my prayer journal.
The Father isn't waiting for you to pray enough hours to unlock your child's salvation. He's pursuing them with the same relentless grace that saved you when your prayers were weak and your sins were many—because that's who He IS.
