"If I had more faith, my prayers would be answered—my doubt is the problem."
How it sounds in your head: I pray, but there's always that whisper of doubt in the back of my mind. Maybe if I had rock-solid, unwavering faith like the heroes of faith, then God would respond. My weak faith is disqualifying me.
"He said to them, 'Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.'"
-- Matthew 17:20Religious teaching that turns faith into a measurable commodity YOU produce, making breakthrough dependent on your faith quality rather than God's nature.
Jesus talked about faith moving mountains and said 'according to your faith be it done.' When nothing moves, the logical conclusion is that your faith measurement is insufficient.
Father brought his son to Jesus after the disciples failed to cast out the demon. Jesus asked if he believed. Father cried out honestly: 'I believe; help my unbelief!'—admitting his faith was mixed with doubt. Jesus didn't say 'come back when your faith is stronger.' He cast out the demon IMMEDIATELY, delivering the boy despite the father's confessed weak faith.
I REFUSE the lie that my faith quality determines God's response. IT IS WRITTEN that mustard seed faith—the SMALLEST seed—moves mountains. I don't need to manufacture giant faith. I am Abraham's seed, and Abraham believed God even when his own body was 'as good as dead'—he had weak faith mixed with doubt AND still received the promise. IT IS WRITTEN that the father cried 'I believe; help my unbelief' and Jesus healed his son THAT MOMENT. My weak faith doesn't disqualify me. I am the son with mustard seed faith accessing MOUNTAIN-MOVING power, not because my faith is strong, but because my FATHER is faithful. I declare: the power is in JESUS, not in my faith measurement. I believe. Help my unbelief. And I receive.
Your Father doesn't measure your faith on a scale to determine if you qualify. He's the Father who responds to mustard seed faith, who grabs Peter the moment he cries out while sinking, who heals even when the person admits their faith is weak—because His response is based on His NATURE, not your faith quality.
