"If I had more faith, I would have conceived. My doubt killed my chances of motherhood."
How it sounds in your head: You remember every moment you doubted, every tear you cried in unbelief. Surely if you had just believed harder, prayed longer, confessed more Scripture, God would have opened your womb. Your weak faith disqualified you.
"He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform."
-- Romans 4:20-21Religious teaching that healing/blessing depends on the strength of human faith, making God's power subject to our performance.
You heard the sermons about 'if you have faith as a mustard seed' and assumed your mountain didn't move because your faith wasn't big enough. The successful mothers seemed so confident.
She LAUGHED in unbelief when God promised a son, was so doubtful she gave her slave to Abraham, yet God still opened her womb at 90 years old. Hebrews 11 declares her a HERO of faith despite her doubt - the breakthrough came anyway.
I REFUSE the lie that my weak faith killed my chances. IT IS WRITTEN Abraham didn't waver, but he DID - he laughed, doubted, lied - yet the blessing STILL came because it was based on COVENANT, not performance. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:14 the blessing of Abraham is mine through Jesus, regardless of my faith strength. I am BLESSED because HE is faithful, not because I am perfect. IT IS WRITTEN He who began a good work in me WILL complete it. My doubt doesn't cancel His promises.
The Father is laughing with you, not at you, whispering, 'Do you think Sarah's chuckle of unbelief stopped Me? Do you think Thomas's doubt changed My resurrection? Your wavering didn't disqualify you - My covenant COVERS wavering.' He's never been waiting for perfect faith.
