"If I don't develop romantically as fast as my friends, I'm immature and falling behind."
How it sounds in your head: My friends are already boy-crazy and I just don't feel the same way yet. They talk about relationships constantly and I'd rather talk about other things. Maybe I'm just not growing up fast enough. What if I'm stunted or childish?
"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven."
-- Ecclesiastes 3:1Religious and worldly lie that creates false developmental timelines and shames normal individual variation as deficiency.
Peer pressure makes hormonal development feel like a race with winners and losers. Her friends' early interest in romance makes her slower pace feel like failure, when it's actually healthy protection.
Jesus 'increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men'—He developed at His OWN pace, not comparing to others. At 12 years old (YOUR age), He was in the temple discussing deep things while other kids His age were doing normal kid things. Different pace, PERFECT timing, zero apology.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm immature or falling behind because I develop differently than my friends. IT IS WRITTEN that there is a SEASON for everything, and I am exactly on time for MY season. I am not stunted—I am PROTECTED by a Father who guards my heart for the right timing. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature at His own perfect pace, and so do I. The BARAK blessing means I am the HEAD not the TAIL—I don't follow my friends' timeline, I follow HEAVEN'S timeline. I am not behind; I am BLESSED with wisdom beyond my years.
The Father isn't disappointed in your pace—He's CELEBRATING your protected heart. He's not comparing you to your friends; He's delighting in YOUR unique unfolding. He's running toward you declaring you're exactly on schedule, right on time, and perfectly positioned for everything He has planned.
