"If healing was for today, why do so many faith-filled Christians still die of cancer and disease?"
How it sounds in your head: Your worship leader died of breast cancer at 34 despite thousands of prayers. Your friend's baby didn't make it despite the prophetic words. If healing is really available, why do the prayer warriors get sick? Why do the 'most faithful' still bury their kids? It feels like proof that either healing isn't for today, or God plays favorites and you're not one.
"Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed."
-- 1 Peter 2:24Source: Grief and disappointment weaponized into theological doubt, making tragic outcomes 'evidence' that healing isn't covenant right.
You've watched people with mountain-moving faith die slow, painful deaths while less 'spiritual' people survive. The cognitive dissonance is unbearable, so it's easier to conclude healing isn't actually available than to sit with the mystery of why some receive and others don't.
She had been bent over, unable to stand up straight, for 18 YEARS—crippled by a spirit of infirmity that Jesus called a 'daughter of Abraham' being bound by Satan. When Jesus saw her, He called her over without her even asking, said 'Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity,' laid hands on her, and IMMEDIATELY she was made straight and glorified God—healed on the Sabbath to the fury of religious leaders.
I REFUSE the lie that faithful people dying of disease proves healing isn't for today. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work at the cross. The provision was made whether every person receives it or not. Healing is my covenant RIGHT through the BARAK blessing of Abraham, purchased with the blood of Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus bore my sickness and carried my pain, which means disease has no legal right to my body. I grieve those who didn't receive their healing without letting grief become doubt. My healing is not dependent on someone else's outcome—it's dependent on the finished work of the cross. I receive healing NOW.
The Father isn't withholding healing from the faithful as some cruel test of loyalty—He's weeping with you over every child He wanted to heal but couldn't reach through the barrier of unbelief or religion. He's running toward you with the same healing power that straightened the bent-over woman after 18 years, wanting to flood your body with resurrection life. Every tragedy breaks His heart too; He's not the author of death but the defeater of it.
