"If God wanted me married, it would've happened by now. Maybe I'm called to singleness."
How it sounds in your head: You're tired of hoping and being disappointed, so you've started reframing the loneliness as 'God's plan for singleness.' It feels more spiritual than admitting you're still waiting. You think: 'Maybe I need to accept this and stop wanting something that isn't meant for me. Contentment means giving up the desire.'
"Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Religious resignation disguised as surrender—calling God's DELAY His DENIAL and making peace with less than what your heart actually longs for.
The years of waiting feel like answer enough—if God was going to do it, surely it wouldn't take this long. Some people seem genuinely called to singleness, and reframing your situation that way stops the pain of continued disappointment.
God promised Abraham a son when he was 75. Abraham waited TWENTY-FIVE YEARS—until he was 100 and Sarah was 90, decades past natural possibility. The promise didn't come fast, but it came EXACTLY as God said, and Isaac was worth every year of waiting.
I REFUSE the lie that God's delay means His denial or that I should kill the desire for marriage. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives me the desires of my heart—and if the desire is THERE, He placed it there. Abraham waited 25 YEARS for Isaac, but the promise came EXACTLY as God said. I am ABRAHAM'S SEED, heir to the SAME COVENANT, and what God promised Abraham's line—including blessing and family—is MINE by blood covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that God is not a man that He should lie—if He planted the desire, He WILL fulfill it. I don't resign myself to 'contentment' that's actually just fear of more disappointment. The Father is RUNNING toward me with the answer, and His timing is PERFECT, not late.
The Father doesn't give you desires just to torture you with unmet longing—He plants desires He INTENDS to fulfill. Like the prodigal's father who KEPT WATCHING the road even after years, your Father hasn't stopped preparing the answer just because you can't see it yet.
