"I wasn't the preferred child—I've lived my whole life as second best."
How it sounds in your head: My sibling was the favorite. I saw it in Mother's eyes, in Dad's pride. They got the attention, the affirmation, the resources. I was the overlooked one, and now at eighty-something, I realize I spent my whole life trying to earn what was freely given to them.
"And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."
-- Romans 8:17Comparison and favoritism curse, mirroring Jacob/Esau or Joseph/brothers dynamics.
Witnessed overt preferential treatment of sibling(s) throughout childhood and adulthood. Parental affection and resources distributed unequally, creating lifelong 'not favored' identity.
Unloved wife, husband preferred her sister Rachel, tried to earn love through childbearing. Genesis 29:31 says 'When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb'—God immediately moved on behalf of the UNFAVORED one. She bore Judah, Messianic line—her 'second-best' status became FIRST in eternal significance.
I REFUSE the lie that I am or ever was second-best. IT IS WRITTEN that I am heir of God and JOINT heir with Christ—equal inheritance, equal belovedness. Parental favoritism was human flaw, not divine assignment. IT IS WRITTEN that God is not partial, not a respecter of persons. Like Leah, even when overlooked by humans, I was SEEN by God and given generational blessing. The BARAK is not distributed by preference—I carry FULL blessing as Abraham's seed. I declare eighty-plus years of being God's favorite, fully chosen, fully loved.
Your Father is running toward you, lifting your face, saying, 'You have NEVER been second in My eyes—you are MY beloved in whom I am well pleased. I don't have favorites because I have ALL-favorites. You are fully, equally, eternally MINE.'
