"I was too controlling and now my adult children keep their distance from me."
How it sounds in your head: You held on too tight. You micromanaged, helicoptered, couldn't let go. Now they live across the country and call once a month out of obligation. The boundaries they set are evidence of the damage your controlling nature caused.
"Therefore, behold, I will allure her, will bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfort to her."

You can remember specific instances of being too involved, too anxious, too demanding. Their current distance feels like the natural consequence of your inability to let them make their own choices.
She manipulated, deceived, and orchestrated a plan that split her family and sent her favorite son away—never seeing him again before her death. Yet she remained in the covenant line and her son Jacob became Israel.
I REFUSE the lie that my controlling behavior created permanent distance that cannot be healed. IT IS WRITTEN that God allures, pursues, and brings back those who are far away—and He's doing that with my children RIGHT NOW. My past mistakes do NOT define our future relationship. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 54:13 - 'All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.' HE teaches them. HE gives them peace. The BARAK blessing includes restored family relationships—the same covenant that kept Jacob blessed despite Rebekah's manipulation covers me. The Father is orchestrating reconciliation that has nothing to do with my performance.
The Father is already working in your children's hearts, softening them toward you in ways you cannot see. He's not waiting for you to fix your controlling tendencies—He's already moving toward restoration while you're still confessing the problem.
