"I was the wrong gender - they wanted a daughter/son and got me instead."
How it sounds in your head: I heard them say they prayed for a girl. Dad wanted a son to carry on the name but got me. I've spent my whole life trying to compensate for being the wrong child.
"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:13-14Source: Enemy using parental disappointment to question divine design, gender rejection creating identity confusion, comparison to imaginary 'preferred child' stealing worth.
You heard the comments about 'we were hoping for...' or saw them light up around other people's children of the 'right' gender. You've spent 80 years trying to be enough while feeling fundamentally wrong.
Son of a prostitute, rejected by his brothers ('you're not getting inheritance - you're the son of another woman'), driven away from family - yet when Israel needed a deliverer, they came begging for the 'wrong son' who became their judge and military commander. God vindicated the rejected one.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm the wrong gender or the wrong child. IT IS WRITTEN that GOD formed my inward parts and covered me in the womb - He chose every detail including my gender with INTENTIONALITY. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and that my soul knows VERY WELL. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out - the BARAK blessing doesn't depend on parental preference but on divine covenant. I am not the 'wrong version' - I am the EXACT man God designed. Their disappointment is not my definition.
While your parents may have wanted something different, the Father looked at you in the womb and said 'THAT one - exactly as designed.' He doesn't do rough drafts - you're the final, perfect version He always wanted.
