"I was the bully in elementary school so I'm a bad person forever"
How it sounds in your head: I used to pick on smaller kids and say mean things. I feel terrible about it now but I can't take it back. Those kids probably still remember. Maybe I'm just mean inside. What if I turn into a bad adult?
"But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live."
-- Ezekiel 18:21-22Enemy accusation using past behavior to create permanent identity of 'evil person' rather than redeemed son
Emerging moral awareness at this age creates intense guilt over past actions, and the pre-teen brain struggles to reconcile past behavior with current values. Victims' pain feels permanent, so guilt feels permanent.
Saul didn't just bully—he MURDERED Christians, dragged families from homes, stood watching Stephen's execution. God struck him with light, changed his name to PAUL, and made him write most of the New Testament. From chief persecutor to chief apostle INSTANTLY. God called him 'chosen vessel' while his victims' blood was still fresh.
I REFUSE the lie that my past bullying defines my character forever. IT IS WRITTEN in Ezekiel 18:21-22 that NONE of my transgressions shall be REMEMBERED against me. I am not that kid anymore. I am a NEW creation—old things PASSED AWAY. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 1:9 that He is faithful and just to FORGIVE and CLEANSE me from ALL unrighteousness—not some, ALL. God made a murderer into an apostle, a persecutor into a preacher. The BARAK blessing covered LIARS who endangered their wives and DECEIVERS who stole blessings. I am REDEEMED, RIGHTEOUS, BELOVED—past behavior erased, new identity sealed.
The Father isn't keeping a file of your elementary school behavior—He's running toward you with APOSTLE written on your robe, not BULLY. He sees your future ministry, not your past mistakes, because He judged ALL your sin on the cross.
