"I'm too old to hear God's voice clearly—real spiritual intimacy was for my younger years."
How it sounds in your head: Your memory is fading. You forget names, stories, where you put things. If you can't remember your neighbor's name, how can you trust you're hearing God? Maybe the spiritual clarity you had at 40 is gone. Dementia might be starting—how would you even know if God was speaking?
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."
-- John 10:27World's lie that cognitive decline equals spiritual decline, that hearing God requires mental sharpness, that aging diminishes your access to the Father.
Your memory IS declining—that's real. You've had moments of confusion. The fear that you're losing your mind makes you doubt every spiritual impression, every sense of God's presence.
Zechariah was an old priest serving in the temple when an angel appeared with a world-changing message. He questioned because of his age, was struck mute for doubt, but the prophetic word came TRUE—God spoke clearly to an elderly man who thought he was past the season of supernatural encounters.
I REFUSE the lie that age diminishes my access to God's voice. IT IS WRITTEN that His sheep HEAR His voice—my ability to hear is based on His KNOWING me, not my memory. The Holy Spirit lives in me PERMANENTLY; He doesn't fade when my mind does. IT IS WRITTEN that He will never leave nor forsake me—not 'unless you get dementia.' Zechariah heard angels as an old man. John received Revelation in his nineties. Abraham heard God at 100. The BARAK doesn't require sharp memory—it's covenant, and I'm IN. God speaks to His kids at EVERY age.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to 'remember better' to speak to you—He's closer now than ever, holding you tighter as you age. His voice doesn't depend on your cognition; His knowing you is what makes you His sheep, and He never forgets His own.
