"I was stupid to trust them—the betrayal proves I have terrible judgment about people."
How it sounds in your head: You should have seen the signs. The red flags were there and you ignored them. Your discernment is clearly broken. You can't trust your gut anymore—it led you straight into destruction. You're naive, gullible, a fool who keeps touching hot stoves expecting different results.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit."
-- Jeremiah 17:7-8Religious spirit of condemnation disguised as accountability, making you the villain in your own betrayal story instead of the wounded warrior God is healing.
Hindsight reveals missed warnings that seem obvious now, creating shame about his judgment. Self-blame feels like control—if he was stupid, he can be smarter next time and prevent future pain.
Samuel the PROPHET—God's chosen seer—looked at Eliab and was certain he was God's anointed king, completely wrong in his assessment. God immediately corrected him: 'Do not look at his appearance... the LORD does not see as man sees.' Even the prophet missed it, yet God didn't condemn Samuel's judgment—He simply revealed His own perspective and Samuel anointed David that same day.
I REFUSE the lie that betrayal proves I'm stupid or broken. IT IS WRITTEN that blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD—my trust in GOD is never misplaced, even when people fail. The Father is RIGHT NOW refining my discernment, not condemning my past choices. Samuel the PROPHET misjudged—if God's own seer needed correction without condemnation, how much more does the Father extend grace to me? I am under the BARAK blessing—blessed in my decision-making, blessed in my relationships, blessed with supernatural discernment that comes from abiding in Christ, not from never being deceived. IT IS WRITTEN that the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD—even my 'mistakes' are being redeemed into wisdom that will protect and guide me the rest of my life.
The Father is saying: 'You weren't stupid—you were loving. That's MY nature in you.' He's not disappointed in your trust—He's PROUD you risked like He does every day with humans who betray Him, and He's now giving you HIS discernment as a gift, not making you earn it through perfect judgment.
