"I threw away my best years on things that didn't matter."
How it sounds in your head: You chased money, success, the wrong priorities. You worked 70-hour weeks and missed your kids growing up. You pursued things that are dust now, and you can't get those years back. What a waste.
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
-- Romans 8:28Religious condemnation that focuses on what you did wrong instead of what Christ made right, stealing present joy with past regret.
His kids are grown, some relationships strained. The promotions and raises that seemed so important at 45 feel hollow at 85. He can't undo the missed ballgames, the absent evenings, the misplaced priorities.
Paul spent YEARS as Saul murdering Christians, destroying families, wasting his education and zeal on OPPOSING God. He called it all 'rubbish' and God used him to write half the New Testament—AFTER the wasted years.
I REFUSE the lie that my years were wasted beyond redemption. IT IS WRITTEN that ALL things work together for good to those who love God—not just the good things, not just the right choices, but ALL things. God wastes NOTHING. What I consider mistakes, He calls materials for miracles. IT IS WRITTEN that instead of my shame I will have DOUBLE honor, instead of confusion, rejoicing. The BARAK blessing covers even my wandering years. Like Paul who persecuted the church and became its greatest apostle, my past is not my disqualifier—it's my TESTIMONY of redeeming grace.
Your Father sees those years you call wasted and says 'WATCH ME work this together for good.' He's not wringing His hands over your past choices—He's REDEEMING them, turning mourning into dancing, giving you double for your trouble.
