"I should just accept being broke as God teaching me contentment and humility."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe God wants me poor to keep me humble. Church always talks about 'blessed are the poor' and being content in all circumstances. Maybe wanting more is just greed. If I was more spiritual, I wouldn't care about money. Poverty builds character, right?
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: Religion twisting Scripture to make poverty spiritual and prosperity carnal, teaching false humility as acceptance of lack.
Spiritual people are always talking about contentment and not being materialistic. It seems more godly to accept less than to want more. Poverty feels like the holy option.
Job lost EVERYTHING—wealth, children, health. Religious friends said it was God's will for humility. God called them FOOLS and DOUBLED everything Job lost. God's ending for the story was RESTORATION TO ABUNDANCE, not learned contentment in poverty.
I REFUSE the lie that poverty is God's tool for humility. IT IS WRITTEN that God wants me to prosper in ALL things and be in health. Job's friends said suffering was for learning; God called them FOOLS and DOUBLED Job's wealth. Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE, not lessons in lack. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28 that I'm blessed in the city and the field, the head not the tail, above not beneath. The BARAK is ABUNDANCE, not poverty with a spiritual spin. Christ redeemed me FROM the curse of poverty INTO the blessing of provision. I'm a BRANCH on the Vine of abundance. Poverty isn't holy—it's the curse.
Your Father isn't teaching you contentment through lack—He's inviting you into ABUNDANCE as your natural state. He's not the God of 'just enough'; He's the God of nets BREAKING with fish, jars OVERFLOWING with oil, and LEFTOVERS after miracles.
