"I should have tithed more consistently - my financial lack is from not giving enough."
How it sounds in your head: You know the sermons. 'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse.' You were inconsistent. Some years faithful, other years not. Now you're on fixed income wondering if God's withholding blessing because you didn't give enough. Maybe if you'd been more faithful with tithes, you'd have more to leave behind.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Religious performance tying God's provision to percentage giving - making the gospel about transactions instead of covenant relationship.
The preachers quoted Malachi 3 every stewardship Sunday. 'You're robbing God.' The guilt is real because you weren't perfect with the ten percent. And the math seems to confirm it - faithful tithers seem blessed, you're struggling.
Roman centurion, not a Jew, never tithed to the temple, didn't follow Levitical law. He simply believed Jesus could heal his servant with a word. Jesus marveled at his faith and healed the servant INSTANTLY - blessing came from faith in Jesus, not giving performance.
I REFUSE the lie that my financial lack is punishment for imperfect tithing. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes ALL GRACE abound toward me - not based on my giving percentage but based on HIS NATURE. I am not under law but under grace. The BARAK blessing that made Abraham wealthy existed BEFORE tithing laws. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse - I am not cursed for imperfect giving. God's provision flows from COVENANT, not transaction. I receive His abundance based on His goodness, not my record.
Your Father isn't withholding provision because your giving wasn't perfect - He's not a cosmic accountant waiting for the ten percent before releasing blessing. He's a FATHER running toward you with abundance because He delights in giving good gifts to His children, not because they earned it.
