"I should have retired by now - I'm behind where I'm supposed to be."
How it sounds in your head: My friends are golfing and traveling. I'm updating my resume. Financial gurus say I should have my age times X in retirement accounts. I'm not even close. I failed to launch into this season properly. I'm working when I should be resting.
"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven."
-- Ecclesiastes 3:1World's timeline and comparison, attacking identity with arbitrary benchmarks and cultural expectations.
His peers are posting vacation photos while he's job hunting, and every financial article says he should be in a different position. The gap between expectation and reality feels like failure.
Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born - the son through whom all God's promises would flow. He received his greatest blessing decades past what nature said was possible, proving God's timing isn't limited by cultural expectations or biological clocks.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm behind God's schedule for my life. IT IS WRITTEN that there is a season for every purpose under heaven, and God's timing is perfect. I am NOT measured by cultural benchmarks or financial gurus' formulas. I am a covenant son with Abraham's blessing, which operated regardless of age, season, or circumstance. IT IS WRITTEN that God works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). I declare that I am exactly where I need to be, positioned for breakthrough, and my best days are ahead, not behind.
The Father isn't disappointed that you didn't hit some arbitrary retirement age - He's the Dad who gave Abraham his promised son at 100. While you're comparing yourself to peers, He's preparing blessing that makes their timelines irrelevant. You're not behind; you're being positioned.
