"I should have listened to everyone who said I was too young to start a business."
How it sounds in your head: They all said it. My youth pastor, my guidance counselor, even some family friends. 'Wait until you're older. Get more experience. You're rushing into this.' I rolled my eyes and did it anyway. Now they were right and I was wrong.
"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
-- 1 Timothy 4:12World: Cultural wisdom about age requirements contradicting biblical examples of young world-changers.
The business did fail and the people who warned against it were older and presumably wiser, creating perfect hindsight bias.
When David volunteered to fight Goliath, King Saul said 'You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.' David went anyway, killed the giant with one stone, and became a national hero that same day.
I REFUSE the lie that I should have listened to voices despising my youth. IT IS WRITTEN let NO ONE despise your youth. David was told he was too young to fight Goliath—he killed the giant anyway. Mary was a teenager carrying the Messiah. Josiah was a child-king who reformed a nation. IT IS WRITTEN God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. One failed business doesn't validate their doubt. The BARAK blessing isn't age-restricted. I will try again with wisdom, not with timidity.
The Father isn't agreeing with the voices that said you were too young—He's the God who gives visions to young people and dreams to old people. He didn't send you back to wait. He's cheering your courage and ready to back your next bold move.
